Kirsten's Digit History:

2011 Digits1: Boobs and Digits

2012 Digits 2: I had this thought March 2012, but  I don't think anybody saw my little post. I should have IMed Strawberry and suggested it since it was her idea originally. I did not think of that, lol, but that's ok because she did on her own three months later. These were my digits without changing or tweaking anything for mesh except my boobs.
Kirsten's Mesh Digits (March 2012):
Body Fat: 7
Torso Muscle: 37
Breast Size: 50-60 (I change this often based on the top)
Love Handles: 23
Belly Size: 0
Leg Muscle: 60
Butt Size: 40
Saddle Bags: 25

My process for 2013 Digit changes:

First, I changed some things for mesh. My torso muscles went from 37 to 35. My leg muscles went from 60 to 55. My boobs stay a firm 50 now when I am mesh. Those were really the only small tweaks I made to my avatar when mesh came on the scene. I almost fit into a standard size small without any tweaking and my base avatar had not changed all that much since I made her in 2006.

Next, over the last few days I have really looked at my proportions, thanks to Strawberry. I decided to use prims to lay them out across my "wingspan" and rotate that to my height. In real life your arm length stretched out from fingertip to fingertip (wingspan) is exactly the same as your height. My arms really looked proportional to me so I was surprised by what I found at arm length 70:

According to this rather crude Michelangelo's David body proportions, my arms are way to short. So I changed my leg length from 70 to 60 and my arm length from 70 to 85 and this was the result.

Well that is a little better, but my wingspan is still not commensurate with my height. So I did a few things in this journey. I made my arms 100 and walked around like that and felt like an orangutan. It might just be the shock of going from 70 to 100 when I have had 70 length arms for 7 years in second life, but it really seemed too long to me. So then I decided to make a height prim and move that to my 100 length arms and see if even at 100 if I was proportional. Lets take a look at that:

So even with my arms at 100, I can't make them long enough for my other body proportions. So for now I decided to go with what I liked and looked best to my eye. I actually liked the 85 arms better than the 70 once I wore them around a bit. The 100 arms just looked wrong to me. So that is why I changed my arm length to 85 and my leg length to 60. If you look back at the first picture in this post, my fingertips seem to touch mid-thigh to me. I am pretty happy with my proportions now, but if the last two years is any indication I will continue to tweak and make small changes. Ok,  now onto the meme questions:

Proportions Challenge Questions:
  1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above? – I do try to have pretty average realistic human adult woman proportions in my body for the most part. The exceptions are when I wear my Lola's tango boobs and I just enjoy that for a sexy change now and then and also my eyes. My eyes are a little bit too large for realism and I like them that way. This is my doll and I like her "doll eyes." I also love that my eyes have always been larger way before the sour patch kid trend came en vouge in SL and avatars walk around with very squinty eyes and I left mine open and slightly doll like.
  2. What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? – The feet for sure are totally ugly. The worst part as a former clothing designer was the crotch area. Painting in that area is so hard and time consuming. It is just really not well made. I think the biggest thing I dislike about the avatar mesh is that it hasn't changed and updated with the times at all. We, as a community, are fixing much of that with mesh clothing and body parts, but I think it would be nice to have a more modern avatar mesh as well.
  3. Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? –I am very tolerant of others and love that we have the freedom to be whatever we want in second life. However, I can definitely have my own opinions too and I personally don't enjoy looking at the invisible pony riders and the sour patch kid avatars and they are seen in plethora on the fashion feeds. That of course is just my own personal preference. You can be or look however you want, but I also have the freedom to choose what I look at and what blogs I visit.
  4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? No, again tolerance. Tolerance for body size and proportions, ethnicities, gender, sexual preferences, and sexual orientation (just to name a few) are very important to me. As long as it does not interfere with my ability to have my own freedom in those areas, I think we should all just show love to others.

Love, Kirsten Corleone
