I am walking along, shopping, finding cool things and suddenly my screen goes black. Its been happening to me a lot. I can't fix it and I have to relog. Which sometimes fixes it, but sometimes not and I relog to a black screen making me unable to shop and style and take pics and blog.......and I go through withdrawal, HELP!

I decided to do some google searching and wouldn't you know I am not alone. Apparently others are having viewer three freeze and go black screen on them too!

Misery loves company or something because actually I thought it was just my dinosaur (2007) of a computer that was the problem and its nice to know that might not be it. Now I know 2007 seems old but everything has been rebuilt or replaced at some time on my computer including the motherboard. The only thing actually from 2007 is the outward tower case. It is still a dinosaur computer though!

So I tried some of the suggestions in the above links and I have updated my video driver which I needed to do apparently there was an April 2012 update. I also cleaned the fans- also needed to do. So I was crossing my fingers that I was done with black screen- but no. The above picture was taken after the two attempts to fix this problem.

So, any other ideas? (Help me please you techie people!)

  1. Does it happen with all viewers? If you can narrow it down to one specific viewer, then maybe try and reinstall it (or install the latest version)...? Sorry, don't know if that's helpful, and you may already have tried. Can't think of anything else...

  2. I had that problem some time ago, with my old computer. I always happened at laggy areas. I used to solve it by lowering my view distance to the minimum (I think it's 32 meters) before teleporting. It seems my problem was my graphics card, it couldn't handle stores with way too many objects, or too many avatars (too much to display)... then again, it may have just been my inventory trying to stop me from getting even more stuff... o.O
