My hair is brand new by Truth at the main store. Calamity is adorable pigtails with hair wrapped around the hair band. Each color pack comes with a style HUD (standard, no additional cost) which turns this hair into a variety of styles.

Choose to be happy. The older that I get the more I understand that happiness really is a choice. Choosing to look at the glass as half full and all of that. Just like most things about life, its much easier said than done. I try to choose to be happy with a combination of ignoring things that don't really matter and doing things that make me happy.

I recently found a new-to-me store that I am really loving, Seniha. I don't really know much about the new stores that I see all around including this one. The owner's flickr says that her designs are original- so I am assuming that these are original mesh. They seem like it because I shop a lot and this mesh seems unique and it is really well done. This store is new as of 2017 and I am really glad I discovered it.

I actually first stumbled across this store earlier this week as part of a hunt, Shades of Love Hunt. The hunt has seven participating stores and my favorite items were all from Seniha. You look for a pink heart and each item is only 20L. The hunt lasts until February 25th. Also, at first I thought the little color dots were colors the items change to but it is really a key to tell you the bodies each item is made for. The key is on the left side of the poster. I was good because I wear Maitreya and everything is made for my body.

Then I was at Equal 10 and I saw Seniha there with this really cute T-shirt style dress. I was hoping the little bows would be color change, but unfortunately that must be a fatpack only feature. If you buy a single color purchase, the only thing that you can change is the logo on the front of your dress. There are 20 different, cute sayings to pick from. While at Equal 10 I also picked up this new Doux hair and Lyrium bento poses. The current round is open until March 5, 2021.

One of the many reasons that I love Second Life is the opportunities to leave normal behind and become any fantasy character in any time period I want. If you are a fan of the TV show, Vikings, then you will know the TV character that I am attempting to honor with this picture, Lagertha the Shieldmaiden. The current round of Enchantment is Viking themed and you can find my no match hair and Nantra pose prop set at the event until March 8, 2021.

In Honor of Black History Month 2021

I am visiting the Virtual Black History Museum inside Second Life created by Abrianna Oceanside. The building itself is a RAR...

I am visiting the Virtual Black History Museum inside Second Life created by Abrianna Oceanside. The building itself is a RARE gacha item, NOMAD // Museum // RARE, which I thought was pretty cool. The majority of the items on the walls seemed to focus on atrocities (such as lynching) and injustices perpetrated on African Americans for the last 300 years. It was all very sad and not really what I was expecting or at least not ALL I was expecting. It does have a memorial for Martin Luther poster along with a transcript of the famous, "I have a dream" speech, along with another man, Onesimus , who introduced inoculation to the US. Other than that, I did not see the rich amazing African American historical leaders that are not often seen enough in History books and I try to talk about during this month. I really think the history lessons of this month should absolutely clearly state what happened that was cruel, unjust, and wrong, but also be about the incredible people of color that rose above their circumstances, broke barriers, and did AMAZING things! Such as:

Harriot Tubman, anti-slavery activist and key figure in the underground railroad
Frederick Douglass, slave, orator, close friend to Abraham Lincoln and helped persuade Lincoln to issue the Emancipation Proclamation in 1845.
Martin Luther King Jr- pretty much everything he did and said, but specifically the bus boycott that he organized. Understanding the monumental achievement that was, how it led to everyone of color walking for a little over a year- which led to the buses losing enough revenue to matter, which then led to the very first significant WIN toward equal rights. The Supreme Court ruled that the segregation of the buses was illegal and really that legislation led to all other segregation laws also eventually also being deemed illegal (schools, bathrooms, restaurants, etc). This lesson is so important for all people to learn how MLKJR made this happen peacefully with proactive solutions. He quite literally changed the world, peacefully.
George Washington Carver- A botonant and inventor often called the "peanut genius" that invented over 325 ways to use peanuts that we still utilize today.
Katherine Johnson- worked at NASA as a mathematician and her advanced calculations are one of the reasons we ended up going to the moon.

There are hundreds of historical figures that can be celebrated during Black History Month. From Civil rights leaders, scientists, authors, nobel prize winners, entertainers, athletes, and now a president and vice president of the United States. I would have liked to see more of them, their pictures and a synopsis of their accomplishments, in the Virtual Black History Museum inside SL.

I was looking through flickr and blogs of some of the talented POC SL residents and really wanted to compile a list of trending avatar components one would need to create a beautiful dark skinned avatar. I had a somewhat hard time finding credits that included things like skin and makeup. I did find a few, but usually, if credits were included, they did not contain those base parts. So I started to just curate a collection of some of my favorite African American avatars in SL and feature them and their amazing work below. In honor of Black History Month 2021, here are 17 of my personal favorites:

I was doing the Love for All Hunt and while in the new to me store Sass, I got lucky. The lucky board had a K for this outfit, Wine is My Valentine. You do need to be in the group to get the FREE lucky board outfits, but the group is only 10L to join. This outfit seemed like a good place to start to make an angsty Valentine picture complete with my Ex Voodoo doll. It comes with the T-shirt, skirt, heart garters, choker, and not pictured shoes. For all of you singles out there, this picture is for you- let's just drink wine instead.

I got my eyeshadow and face tattoo from ARTE and Background from NinaX- both are FREE in the Love for All hunt. Arte has been a long time favorite makeup store, but NinaX was new to me. That is one of the reasons I wanted to do a Hunt- to discover new stores since I have been away from SL for two years.
