I did a formal shopping list in 2013 and have had it on my blog as a resource ever since. My tastes in the area of formals have changed so I have decided to update with my current 2015 go-tos for formal wear. When I wrote my 2013 post, I was still addicted to flexi and really did not like to actually dance and swish around a dance floor without it. I still wanted a full mesh base, but definitely wanted flexi too. I still miss flexi swishing around me sometimes as I dance and occasionally I will wear them if they have a full mesh base, but I don't actually prefer them anymore. I have made the switch to preferring all mesh formals now, especially fitmesh formals.

A standout formal to me this year was this ISON gown released at collabor88. It comes in standard sizes and my personal favorite fitmesh for Maitreya.

Now I am going to give you a comprehensive list of what I think are currently the best places to shop for formal attire. I will be covering a few stand out semi-formal places as well as floor length formal shops in this post. I hope this list helps you as you shop for your holiday parties this season.

This is all the same exact dress above. I just showed it with different color lights shining on it so you can see the variety and shine of the materials texture. I blogged the new store Goji, HERE, and I focused on the various fitmesh sizes and HUD options available. This post is all about the AMAZING textures of the dresses at Goji. I really can't do them justice in static pictures so you need to go try a demo to see them moving in world. Make sure you have local lights enabled, all your shaders on, a pretty, clear windlight, and are either outside (for the sun) or have lots of lights around you (like in a club) so that you can see the textures correctly. When you go visit the new store, join the VIP group for free and get a free dress while you are there. You earn 5% loyalty credit on every purchase when you wear your VIP group tag too.

I have been playing with my new LOGO Chloe mesh head. I found some Omega makeup at Alaska Metro that works really well with the head (you can try demos). I am wearing glitter eyeshadow and lipstain listick, fun! I am wearing two Omega makeup layers, just make copies and add as many appliers as you want and then wear them. I also bought the Expressions HUD 2 and installed it into my main hud (super easy). Now I have 24 eyes, and 24 mouth expressions that I can mix n' match to make tons of expressions. I am really having a lot of fun with that part! There is even another 12 pack add on that you can buy too.

My pretty updo is new by enVOGUE at the current round of My Attic. It is only 95L until tomorrow November 30th. Make sure to stop by there and get it while it is at that great low price.

It is hard not to go hog wild when there are so many great Black Friday sales in Second Life. It might be easier to make a list of stores that are not having a sale. Some were only today, but lots are through the weekend til Monday, and some on Marketplace are 12 days of saving. I told myself not to go nuts today because Arcade is right around the corner, but I failed. Who could blame me? I have been eyeing a new LOGO mesh head for months and they are on sale. Now that LOGO heads are updated with Omega makeup layers and have add on expression packs that you can add to your HUD, plus a sale- I was toast. Blueberry, Mandala, and Truth hair have special "12 days of Savings" sales on marketplace. Essenz shoes are 50% off, WoW skins are 45% off, and NanTra poses are having a sale too. Those are the stores that seduced me personally today, but the list of sales seems never-ending.

I will say more about my new head after I play with it a little bit. The only drawback so far is that LOGO Chloe does not have a lot of skin appliers made specifically for it, but it is Omega compatible so that helps some. I hope my favorite skin stores release some skin appliers specifically designed for this head soon. Look how cute the expressions are and I loved that you can mix and match the eyes, nose, and mouth to make lots of different looks.

I went looking for winter/snow sims today and frankly I was not impressed overall. I found a bunch of regular prim build places that look stuck in 2007 SL. It is beyond time to switch to mesh, second life, and get with the times- to include trees! I am working on my own little slice of winter bliss at my house in SL and will hopefully use that for my pictures soon.

Ducknipple just released a bunch of items under their 20FIVE label- which means a 5 color change HUD and an introductory low price. My sweater dress was in this release in two color packs- a Fresh and a Warm (shown) pack. This sweater dress comes in standard sizes and fitmesh for Maitreya (shown), Physique, and Belleza. You can't beat it for 95L.

I had so much fun shooting these pictures. I love blogging, but these pictures made my soul happy. I really adore the intricate nature of fantasy items in SL. I happened to get a few items from stores I blog for at the same time that inspired this photo shoot- I love when that coalesces. Apple May just released these antlers at Tres Chic. The rose color changes into 4 colors via HUD and it comes with a small pair (shown) and a large pair of antlers. Eudora 3D just released this organic necklace that looks a lot like leaves at the current round of The Secret Affair. Finally, Pink Fuel just released this FURY face makeup that is perfect for this fantasy shot. It is available in regular layers and in an applier pack with appliers for Catwa (shown), Lelutka, TMP, and LOGO mesh heads. You get 8 different makeups in your purchase. I think it looks like a mask or kickass warrior facepaint.

I have written about r2 and how they never seem to go with the theme of collabor88 because their designs are very distinct. I could see something they make out and about and I would know instantly it was r2. Theme or not, the original mesh and texture talent of this designer can not be overlooked. The slick plastic textures of all the clothing are distinctly futuristic fetish. Why I personally have revisited this store is because all the latest designs are fitmesh for slink and maitreya. In fact this month's tiny top and thong bottoms are also fitmesh for Hourglass and only 88L for the pair while at the event. When I last blogged r2 in May, I talked about how I could not wear the boots that went with the outfits because they were only in standard sizes and made a plea for fitmesh and now we have it- outfits and boots. I can't wait to get other designs and shorter boots in fitmesh from r2 as well.

I am wearing two recent releases from Blueberry today, my Miki Super Girl tank and Harlow split jean skirt. The cute writing, that comes in silver or gold, inspired me to make a modern twist on the comic book character. Also, are you watching the new show on CBS? I like it so far and so I picked hair that reminded me of the TV character and it also inspired the above picture composition too. You get a solid tank and super girl writing options in each color purchase.

My jean skirt can be worn with or without the belt and the belt has 6 leather textures and 7 metals that you can change via HUD. The skirt also comes with optional panties that you can show or hide. I am showing these designs on my Slink Hourglass, but Blueberry makes fitmesh for both slink bodies, all three Belleza bodies, and Maitreya. I am so excited to be covering the launch of Goji. A brand new original mesh store that is offering fitmesh for Slink Physique and Hourglass, Maitreya Lara, and Belleza Isis and Freya. This new launch is from the tried and true designers Damien Fate and Janie Marlowe- offering a different style of clothing from Neve (formerly coldLogic) and supporting even more mesh bodies. From what I see from this first launch I like to think this store is about cute and FUN fashion. Each design comes with a four texture change HUD giving lots of variety with each purchase.

This first launch is filled with cute designs. I had such a hard time deciding what to show you first. In the end the pink and mint ombre design on this wrap dress was an instant favorite. I don't think the slouchy legwarmers were really meant for the dress, but I think they are pretty adorable with just about anything and I loved them with my new Livalle MaryJanes. These new shoes are brand new and just released at the new round of Tres Chic.

Cae is participating in The Mix event this month with these simple charm necklaces, like this mustache. If you get the collection, you can wear one necklace and change the charm into any of 10 charms via HUD. They are each 145L and the whole collection is only 395L for all 10- that's a great deal.

Have an opinion on what you like? Good I hope you will participate in the polls in this blog post and let me know what you think. Nobody is more surprised than I am that I have not really taken off my mesh head since I bought it. First of all I did not think I would ever find one that I liked enough to even buy it, let alone for it to take over my avatar and actually be my preference. I thought that if I ever did buy one it would be used for the occasional emotion picture. I did not plan on falling in love with a mesh head- but that is exactly what happened with Catwa Jessica.

I thought I would do a post comparing the shape I have used and loved for 9 years and thought nothing could ever replace, and my mesh head. I also will be showing 5 different skins on this mesh head to show the variety skin appliers provide. Finally, I will be asking you to participate in polls to tell me 1) Catwa Head or Kirsten's Shape, and 2) What skin applier do you like best on my Catwa head? The polls are just for fun because I have pretty much decided that this head is for me and don't plan on taking it off anytime soon!

I still find my default avatar pretty, but I just prefer my mesh head. I also do not miss all the editing time that I had to spend on my default avatar in the above pictures. I smoothed out the nose, around the mouth, and the chin. I did not have to touch up the face on the Catwa head. What do you guys think?
